A large, civilian agency requires ongoing instructional design and technical writing support to develop and deliver training programs. Responsibilities include design and development of diverse curricula delivered via multiple e-learning modalities, including webinars, web-based training, and instructor-led training (ILT). Specific tasks may include the following: independently writing job aids, developing detailed course documentation (e.g., outlines, lesson plans, templates), designing new courses to help transition new employees, and developing related participant/instructor workbooks or manuals. All deliverables require close attention to detail and collaborating with the team members to ensure Section 508 compatibility.


  • Apply basic consulting, training development, and project management skills
  • Independently meet project goals, training objectives, and quality standards
  • Design curricula according to instructional principals, client objectives, and program requirements Draft a complete design document to include: audience and learning environment analysis, Instructional objectives and strategy, content outline, user navigation, screen/page template designs, storyboard/script development with text, voice, sound, and graphics
  • Follow Federal and project guidelines and conform to specific style guides for all deliverables


  • 5+ years of experience with developing courses and training material (can be a combination of education and experience)
  • Experience using e-learning tools such as Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate and Lectora is preferred
  • Instructional design experience including strong knowledge of adult learning theory, learning styles, audience needs analysis, and creative development of immersive learning to include Web-based Training (WBT), Computer Based Training (CBT) and Instructor-Led Training (ILT) that is Section 508 compliant for Federal delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and teaming partners
  • High attention to detail
  • Exceptional writing, grammar, and punctuation skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing job aids, training manuals, and training documentation Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines (project management and time management skills)
  • Knowledge of federal training procurements/proposal process is a plus
  • Experience with delivering professional services to the federal government is preferred
  • Knowledge of SCORM and Section 508 accessibility requirements is preferred
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance
