DFC is seeking a Business Analyst to join our growing team in support of an engagement performing quality reviews/audits of the automated disability claims rating process at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). This person would primarily support the DFC Business Process and Strategy team and the role will be responsible for the development and execution of quality assurance and auditing plans. The team is seeking a driven individual with excellent critical thinking skills and high attention to detail who has a desire to learn the complex VA disability claims process and laws and regulations related to the VA compensation and pension process as well as technical operations, enjoys working in a fast-paced and regularly changing environment, and can effectively manage competing priorities. What the role requires:

  • Learning and assessing the automation results of a complex VA disability claims rating process.
  • Perform a comprehensive review and evaluation of these results from VA systems and data repositories for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile the automation performance data against audit results.
  • Report audit findings, develop audit logs, tracking databases for input of audit information, and spreadsheets for documenting, storing, and conducting rapid analysis of audit results.
  • Develop quality auditing reports detailing the audits performed, audit findings, along with listing the number of quality evaluations performed as well as list any discrepancies or non-compliant issues identified during the evaluation.
  • Support testing and evaluation of automation related technologies.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities.
  • Draft technical documentation, briefings, reports, and other deliverables.
  • Create agendas and timelines and take detailed meeting notes that document action items.
  • Support continuous process improvement efforts across the program to enhance efficiency.
  • Support strong stakeholder engagement and communication activities, both verbally and written.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities.

What you need to be successful:

  • 1 - 6 years of professional working experience (can include a professional internship).
  • Experience performing user acceptance testing (UAT) and quality audits is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise strong attention to detail, as well as problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with a team throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Ability to produce consistent, insightful, high-quality work against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate analysis and recommendations in oral presentations or written documents.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into plain-language appropriate for various target audiences.
  • Ability to review and quickly grasp federal policy, standards, and mandate documents and develop corresponding analysis and recommendations.
  • Self-directed; ability to work on tasks requiring analysis, writing, and planning activities with limited guidance or oversight.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of VA systems along with VA disability claims process as well as the laws and regulations related to the Compensation and Pension process is a plus.
  • Performed in a VA position such as Decision Review Officer (DRO), Quality Review Team (QRT), and Ratings Veterans Services Representative (RVSR) is a plus.
  • Experience working with federal government projects is preferred.

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed, is required.
