We are seeking a junior marketing and communications specialist to join a programmatic support contract for a large federal healthcare initiative. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated interest in health policy or reform, strong critical-thinking skills and a desire to learn complex healthcare operations concepts, is adept at drafting content for diverse audiences across multiple platforms, enjoys working in a fast-paced and regularly changing environment, and can effectively manage competing priorities.

What the role requires:

  • Generate creative and original ideas for reaching and engaging target audiences and communicating key messages.
  • Work directly with clients to understand the unique aspects of their program, gauge their communication needs and propose solutions.
  • Develop educational materials that inform stakeholders on a wide variety of topics.
  • Effectively and professionally engage with all project stakeholders and explain complex concepts in plain language.
  • Learn complex healthcare policy concepts and apply those concepts to daily tasks.
  • Assist team members with research and analysis around current communications efforts.

What you need to be successful:

  • 1-3 years of professional working experience (can include professional internships) specifically in stakeholder engagement or program communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to learn complex healthcare policy concepts in a limited timeframe, and ability to apply those concepts to daily tasks.
  • Ability to exercise strong attention to detail, problem solving, and organizational skills. Includes the ability to produce consistent, insightful, high-quality work against tight deadlines.
  • Self-directed and can work on tasks requiring analysis, writing, and planning activities with limited guidance or oversight.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with federal government projects is preferred but not required.

Other important information:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in communications, public health, or related field.
  • Applicants should have the ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the US for any employer; sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Preference will be given to qualified Veteran candidates.
